Workspace Settings in August

Overview

This guide explains how administrators can configure workspace level settings in August. These settings include branding, user access controls, notices, guidance messages, and other global defaults. Adjust these options so your firm’s workspace reflects your identity and operational needs.

You can customize the look and feel of your August workspace so it matches your firm’s brand.

Upload your firm’s logo to appear at the top left of the sidebar.

Firm Name

Display your firm name below the logo for clear identification across users and devices.

Requirements
  • Logo must be a square PNG or JPG, at least 72 x 72 pixels and no more than 2 MB
  • Firm name should fit within two lines for readability
  • Use a centered, high resolution logo from your internal brand assets
How to Configure
  1. Go to Settings → Workspace
  2. Under Display or Branding, select the pencil icon to edit the firm name
  3. Select Replace to upload a new logo
  4. Select the delete icon to remove branding

Custom Firm Notice and Guidance

Admins can use Notices and Guidance to share updates, policies, or reminders with all users.

Notices

Pop up or recurring alerts that display important firm wide messages such as compliance reminders, feature updates, or matter specific notes.

Guidance

A persistent sidebar item with evergreen content such as best practices, internal policies, or how to instructions.

Configuring a Notice

  1. Go to Settings → Workspace → Notice
  2. Enter a title
  3. Enter the message body, which supports standard HTML formatting
  4. Optional: toggle Disallowed Client Matters to show a list of restricted matters
  5. Set the display frequency (Once, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Every Refresh)
  6. Select Preview to review the notice
  7. Select Publish to make it active for all users

Configuring Guidance

  1. Go to Settings → Workspace → Guidance
  2. Enter the message and optional title (up to 13 characters)
  3. Preview the guidance message
  4. Publish to display it in the sidebar under your firm name

Access Control for Notices and Guidance

Only admins with Workspace Personalization permission can create or manage Notices and Guidance.

If you want to delegate this responsibility without giving full admin access, assign the Workspace Personalization permission to another trusted user. This ensures only authorized individuals can modify global workspace content.

From Workspace Settings, admins can also access other configuration areas including:

  • User and permission management
  • Analytics and reporting
  • Document retention and vault rules
  • Integration setup for DMS, add ins, and external storage
  • Global defaults for new users and new matters

These sections help centralize workspace governance, compliance, and configuration so your environment stays consistent and secure.
